Once upon a time, a little girl read Charlotte’s Web. She loved that book so much, in fact she loved all books so much, she decided to open a bookstore.
Since Sharon Ritchie first opened Chapters Bookshop, the store has promoted the characteristics that make Galax so special: friendliness, service, a sense of community and a strong commitment to the area’s heritage. Now, twenty years later, that commitment is particularly evident as the store has expanded its offerings to meet our customers’ requests and needs. Chapters Bookshop and The Wine Cellar at Chapters serve as a gathering place for book lovers, wine lovers, storytellers and friends. We welcome adults and children, natives and travelers.
Yes, we still offer books, but you’ll also find clothing, jewelry and other accessories. You’ll find soaps and lotions, children’s toys and more. We offer tea, coffee, a selection of food and snacks, beer and wine. From home decor to gardening, we’re pretty sure you’ll find what you’re looking for. And, if not, then we’ll find and order it for you.
That’s who we are. A friendly and knowledgeable staff, committed to helping you. Period.
In celebration of our twenty years in business, we’ll be featuring twenty days of giveaways. Each day for the next twenty days, we’ll feature a product that is representative of who we are and what we offer. Visit our website and Facebook pages to share, comment and spread our anniversary news. Each “like,” “comment” and “share” will enter you into a drawing of the day for a special prize. Each blog comment also counts. Visit the store and sign up for our newsletter and you’ll also be entered into the drawing. Winners will be contacted via Facebook or email and prizes may be picked up at the store. (Sorry. We can’t ship prizes at this time.)
